The Hamilton-Halton Branch
competition will be held on March 7,
2010, at 2:00 PM at St. ChristopherÕs Church. Adjudicator: Jennifer Tung.

Competitions are held at 3
(three) different levels and divided
into two separate categories:
Instrumental and Vocal.
Junior Level: One instrumentalist and one vocalist will be chosen
as winners to proceed to Zone competition.
Instrumental:
No age restrictions.
Two
contrasting selections to be prepared from Grade 8 or Grade 9 (both selections
from the same grade.)
Time
limit: 10 minutes
Vocal:
No age restrictions.
Three selections in
two or more languages from grades 8.
Time limit: 15
minutes.
Winners will advance to Zone
competition only.
Senior Level:
Instrumental:
Competitors must not reach their 23rd
Birthday by January 1st, 2010.
Two or more
selections at Grade 10 or Associate level.
Time limit: 15
minutes.
Vocal:
Competitors must not reach their 31st
Birthday by January 1st, 2010.
At
least three selections in two or more languages at Grade 9 level or above.
Time limit: 15 minutes.
Repertoire should
reflect the experience and maturity of the student.
Young Artist Level:
Instrumental:
Must not reach their 25th Birthday by
January 1st, 2010.
Prepare
a programme of at least 30 minutes, but not more than 45 minutes, containing a
work by a Canadian composer at Associate level or above.
Vocal:
Must be 20-32 years
of age as of January 1st, 2010.
Prepare
a programme of at least 30 minutes, but not more than 45 minutes, at the
Associate level or above, which must include an art song, an aria, a
contemporary work, and a Canadian work.
Three
selections must be in two or more languages other than English.
Winners will advance to the Southern
Zone competition to be held at the
Niagara Falls Public Library on April 10, at 3:00 PM. Hosted by ORMTA Niagara

Provincial Competitions will take place on July 25 at the Hilton Hotel, 300
